Latresa L. Williams,  BSW, ACSW, LMSW,  is a Licensed Clinical Therapist. Graduate and undergraduate from Wayne State University.  She is also a Certified Biblical Counselor from Christian Research and Development.  Latresa has been trained and is recognized by the State of Michigan as a certified trainer to students in the field of Social Work; Core Supervision. With over 20 years of experience in the field, specializing in individual therapy, couples and families, guiding them through challenges, obstacles and opportunities. She is the Founder and owner of Assurance Counseling, LLC, located in Livonia, Michigan.

In addition, to being a prominent certified biblical counselor, instructor, teacher, she has been recommended among her peers to provide support to pastors, counsel leadership and their children. Latresa presented at Christian Research and Development on defending the faith.  She was appointed to the position of counseling director for 10 years under the direction of Bishop V. R. Thomas, Sr., of Faith Tabernacle Church, located in Highland Park, Michigan.  At which time, her career began as a counselor, which is where her passion met vocational and two has remained joined for 20 plus years in the field.  She has a passion to contribute to society by helping individuals overcome numerous barriers and improve their quality of life.  Latresa has worked with various community mental health agencies across the metropolitan area, she has considered it a privilege and honor to serve veterans as a medical social worker.  Post graduate school she has specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, DBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, substance abuse, nouthetic counseling,

She indicates her desire as a therapist has been to focus on the whole person, mind, body, soul, and spirit.  Research has proven church members and various cultures, desire to seek counseling outside of their congregation, for various reasons, feeling judged or unheard.  Many desire to seek a counselor with the same belief system or biblical principles.  Latresa has a passion, to save families, assist with boundaries, toxic relationships, stressful relationships with peers, family and friends, trauma, academic, anxiety, depression, and workplace concerns; vocational and spiritual have united beautifully together in the field.   She has experienced a broad spectrum of clients, among her areas of expertise are children, adolescent behavioral disorders, Attention Deficient Disorder, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and various bipolar disorders.

Latresa continues to grow in her field by attending conferences and learning new methodologies. She is an interactive therapist, who utilizes eclectic therapy as a therapeutic approach which is designed the meet the needs of each client because there is not one method of therapy in the field of helps.  She utilizes solution-focused therapy with interactive treatment plans, while seeking to meet the client’s needs.  She has had extensive training working with childhood trauma, LGBTQA, youth at risk; and, domestic violence.

She effectively addresses personal life challenges.  She continues to integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to obtain tools that are theoretically sound, yet, practical in assisting clients to overcome unhealthy life patterns.  Her goal as a therapist is to assist clients with effective communication, learning to accept themselves, find meaning in life, building trust, new hope, help and healing while reclaiming their lives.
